Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM (CT)
Summary:
Have questions about lighting and looking for an unbiased, research-based resource? The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) is the most important lighting organization you probably have never heard of. There are a lot of myths, misinformation and snake oil in the lighting industry. This lunch and learn will introduce the IES along with the resources such as lighting safety, design guides, and educational documentation the organization provides. We will cover how the IES is involved with ASHRAE 90.1, including a peek behind the magic curtain of lighting power densities, as well as discuss how the IES impacts LEED on both the energy credit and Sustainable Site Credit 8.
The Objectives are as follows:
1. Define the history and structure of the IES
2. Demonstrate the collaborations and education opportunities the IES provides.
3. Demonstrate the impact the IES has on the LEED program
